“TORAK!”
The voice shuddered the earth and I was instantly awakened, aware that anger hung with a dew-like veil over the lands. I shuddered slightly, this voice sending icy chills down my spine. My grandfather, Alexander, has obviously found another 'fault' in me. I sigh heavily, not wanting to get up to another minute in the night.
“TORAK, HERE, NOW!”
I knew he wouldn't give up so I heaved myself up, careful not to awaken anyone else and walked sulkily over to him.
“Yes, Sir?”
He glares at me. Then he begins to walk, his fragile body soon to break at any fall.
“Follow me please. This is another lesson I want you to learn.”
I sigh again. A protest was about to escape my mouth but his tail flicked to my muzzle cut it short. I hang my head and follow quietly behind him, shaking my head to try and keep the sleep from overcoming my head again. My grandfather walked with surprising speed and quietness, and soon stood by a lake, waiting for me to catch up. When I do, I plunge my head into the water and wake up and he pushes me into the cool water, raising an angry protest within me which even he couldn't stop me uttering. His glare turned into an enlightening smile and he couldn’t help ringing his laughter. I look on confused and waited for his next lesson from my grandfather. I waited until his laughter died down before cautiously, I  let curiosity get the best of me.
“Sir – why did you bring me here, and plunge me within the waters?”
My grandfather looked on with wisdom and kindness.
“Look into the waters, deep. Look deeper than what you have ever tried to. Let the moon shine behind you to give you the best vision on what you are to see. Let yourself be lost in what you are.”
I followed his orders, looking into the waters but only seeing a black, familiar figure to stare back at me. The moon was just a pearly white glow against my head. I sighed and closed my eyes, willing myself to just go to sleep once more. Grandfather would not give up though.
“You are not doing it. You are just skimming what you want to see. You are NOT looking deeper to what you truly are. Please, just try.”
The urgency within my kins voice compelled me to obey this silent order. Once more, I shut my eyes, took a deep breath and opened them slowly to once again see a similar figure. I looked a bit deeper into the moons light though, the way they fell upon my head. I looked at my gentle eyes, black as the night sky. This is where the water began to ripple.

A black figure runs along the lands. The trees are dead, burnt until they were black, the lands still hot and the heat intense. The figure struggled to make it, placing two feet in front of the other. Weakness leaks from the figures frame and it wills to give up, though something was pulling it on. Determination pulled it forward, stopping it from dropping and giving up completely. Suddenly, without a trace nor warning, a larger figure appears and plunges the first figure to the ground. The larger creature was ten times the size and the smaller one had absolutely no hope of escaping this kind of threat. The talons and the larger build to the massive creature gave it an advantage and the battle was quick. Once the first figure was down, the large figure disappeared, as if it were just mist. Coldness washed the lands, be ridding the hateful heat and darkness intensified.

I snap out of the trance and stumble back in utter shock and bewilderment. Sweat poured from me.
What was this all about?
I stared at my grandfather and he slowly smiled and nodded his approval. Was this what I was meant to see?
“Torak, think about what you just saw. Whatever you did, tell me, or figure it out if you can. I am here to help you. I will help. I have these in-visions too and they can either kill one, or save one, whichever they chose to determine.”
His words penetrated me, and I blurted the whole vision forward.
“There was a small creature running through a burnt scene. It was so hot, it was so intense, and it was tired. But something was pulling it forward, as if it were trying to get somewhere, or find something. A second figure appeared, much larger......appeared out of nowhere and just attacked the smaller creature dead....it was so quick, he didn’t have a chance. The talons were massive, so sharp it could shred stone. The muscles just fell on him like nothing. Then he just.....disappeared. What does this mean, who are they and why did I see death?”
I stared at him, begging him silently to know the answer, willing him to tell me and reassure me. He gave me a startled look and turned his head towards the moon, tears glistening within his eyes.
“You are him...you are the one.”
“Grandfather, I don’t understand. Please explain to me. Who am I and what is the one? Tell me what I am seeing...please.”
He gave a heavy sigh.
“That second creature you saw, the way you described it, it sounded like a bear. The claws....the muscles. The second figure. This is you........ you are in danger and you are due to die. Your surroundings means war, there is going to be a war and the opposing side is going to win. Coldness and darkness will wash the lands. I don’t know why your running though. I cant figure it out....”
I had heard enough. I didn't need more. With that, I got up and bowed to him. With a lump in my throat, I ran into the darkness.
Tell me what you think.
